When you receive a gift, there is whole lot of excitement and happiness just to know whats inside the box. The surprise factor adds to the element, I find the subscription boxes similar to a gift box. Though you pay for it but you don't know which products you have received this time, which adds to the eagerness and gives a thrill to unwrap the box.
I heard some really great reviews about the Envy Box, mostly from the fellow bloggers. Subscribed for one month (June 2014) subscription box and thought to check whether its worth all the hype.

In case if you are not aware of Envy Box then let me explain.
Envy box is a beauty subscription box which provides you with five samples of high end luxury brand. The whole idea is, you get to use five luxury products samples at a reasonable price. The samples are good enough to be used for 2-3 times. You also get to know, how does the product fare on your skin. If you like any of the samples after usage, you can order a full size product.
This I believe is a fantastic idea, provided that lot of luxury brand has a tie up with such kind of company's as Envy Box. I like to see variation in my box, repeated products from the same brands does not excites me.

This is how the box looks like, came in Lilac color , which to me, is appealing and feminine. So thumbs up for the packaging

When I opened my box, these are the products that were there inside.
1) Skin Yoga - Coconut and Sea Salt Foot Scrub
Haven't used any product from Skin Yoga earlier, this looks promising. How well it works, is something to wait and watch. Though I am not so thrilled about this product but will give a thumbs up to this one anyways.
Price : Rs. 495/- for 150 GR
2) Innisfree Eco Nail Paint in 17
Price : Rs. 300/- for 10ML
Usually like to keep my nails natural and free of any nail paint but that does not mean I don't appreciate Nail paints. The application and the finish is good but wish they would have send some bright and happening color rather than such pale color which according to me is a thumbs down.
3) Thalgo Freshness Exfoliator
Price : Rs. 1770/- for 50 ml
This product is suppose to be used twice a week. Apply massage and rinse after 5-10 min. I did try this product over the weekend, it gives a cooling effect and exfoliate the skin leaving it soft and glowing. Loved it !!! Thumbs up for this one.
4) Nina Ricci - La Tentation De Nina
Price Rs. 4800/-
OMG ! it smells amazingly feminine and seductive, I was so excited and thrilled to see this product in the box . It has a right balance of floral and fruity fragrance. Thumbs up for Nina Ricci La Tentation.
5) Kronokare Body Lotion
Price : 450/-
Plus points - like the way it absorbs in the skin leaving it soft and hydrated.
Minus Point - the fragrance is quiet average.
Not so thrilled with this product, like the body lotions to be effective (which to some extent it is), and to have an appealing and feminine fragrance. People who find Lavender fragrance appealing might like this one.
SP Rating : 3.5
Final Verdict
Subscription box are a good way to try high end luxury product samples and once you are satisfied with the product, you can always go for full size. I am a make up addict and this looks more like a skin care range and the brand range is also limited hence I might subscribe as and when my heart desire's but not on a regular basis.
I like subscription box for the same reasons that you've listed, too. If I don't like a sample product, well, at least I didn't make a commitment!
ReplyDeleteThat Nina Ricci scent sounds really intriguing, too; I didn't know that they had released a new perfume.
