Swiss County Munnar - Hotel Review

Kerala better known as "Gods Own Country" has been voted one of its ten paradise found by National Geographic Traveller. It is also a most popular destination for Honeymoon in India because of its romantic resorts, Lush green forest, beaches, backwaters, hill stations and many more reasons why Kerala is called as "Switzerland of India".

Kerala was on my mind for a short vacation to explore the nature's beauty, refresh myself and take a long overdue break from all the routine chores. This trip was for two destinations in Kerala, I always wanted to visit.  Munnar and the Famous Backwaters of Kerala.

Beautiful Munnar....Hill Station of Kerala - Pretty cool & Awesome Weather

Munnar is one of the most popular hill stations in South India.  It is nestled in Western Ghats at an altitude of 6000 ft and is located in Idukki district of Kerala.  This picturesque hill station beckons nature lovers from far and near.  Large tea plantations, forests, hill ranges, valleys and wildlife makes anyone fall in love with this place. I am going to share few places that you should visit (or try to) when you are in Munnar and if you have already visited Munnar recently, then I hope these will make you want to do another trip very soon!

But first things first there are so many hotels around but picking up the right one makes your holiday more tranquil and serene. While exploring,  I came across "Swiss County Munnar". Many times it so happen that looking at the pictures you find the hotel great but when you reach, you are in for a surprise. To add up to your list of woes..... the hotel staff is not co-operative, the food might not be so great and the list of small irritations is endless.

After lots of deliberations I picked to spend the first part of my break in Munnar at the Swiss County.  Here is my review , to start with, its not a huge hotel with frills like swimming pool, gym and other facilities. Its a small hotel with just 7 rooms, Two of the Seven are Alpine Suites and the rest are Swiss Regalia which is an equivalent of a normal standard room. All the basic amenities and facilities like Wi-Fi, Internet Service, Minibar, Tea/Coffee Maker,  and Cable TV to name few are provided.

The hotel is based on  Swiss theme , nice, clean and appealing. We had booked Swiss Regalia (which is a standard room) but after reaching when we saw the Aphine Suite, we literally fell in love with the spacious room and a exquisite view from the balcony. You bet ! none of the five star property offers you such spacious room that too at a much affordable price.  The manager sold us a good discount and we upgraded ourselves to Alphine Suite. It has a small balcony where there were cane chairs and table, where you can enjoy a cup of tea in mist of the nature and relax yourself. At night you can see the fireflies lightning up the trees just like a Christmas Tree. The weather is cool and soothing.

One more big point to take note, though the weather is cool this is perhaps the only hotel in Munnar which offers Aircon in your rooms as well in case you wish to spend the afternoon in the fabulous room lazing around.  The best part was the staff which was extremely courteous, co-operative and very helpful.

As much I liked the hotel, I was equally impressed by the food. I tried various other hotels at Munnar for lunch and dinner but nothing as compared to Swiss County, their Sambhar is the best in Munnar.

This hotel not only provides you with good stay, helpful staff, comfortable room but also win your heart with the taste of their food which is remarkable. All in all,  Swiss County provides a complete package for a comfortable and unforgettable trip which you will cherish for a long time. Its like a home away from home. 

I had a memorable stay in Swiss County Munnar and would highly recommend this hotel.

Few sightseeing places in Munnar .......

For shopping there is Munnar City which is like seven kilometers from Swiss County. There are cultural show in the evening that you can visit. Apart from the ones that I have mentioned there are many other tourist spots that you can go to. I wanted my trip to be relaxing hence visited few places.
