Recipe : Elepotta Pattice

Hello Everybody, 

Today I am going to share with you a recipe of Elephant Foot which is also well known as Suran. Tried this recipe over a weekend and turned out really great. So here I am sharing my secret ingredients with you to make this yummy recipe of Elepotta Pattice


250 gm – Elephant foot / Suran
150 gm – Potato
1 tbsp – White til (Sesame seeds)
1 tbsp – Garlic & Ginger paste
1/2 tbsp – Red chili powder
1/4 tbsp – Haldi powder
A pinch of Ajwain (Carom seeds)
1/2 lemon juice
2 medium spoons – Besan
8 bread slices – crumbed
Salt as per taste


  •    Clean Suran & remove its skin & cut into medium pieces. 
  •    Boil Potato & Suran together. Add salt while boiling
  •   Smash Potato & Suran. Add garlic-ginger paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ajwain,   white til in it. Chk the salt in the smash & accordingly add more salt as per requirement. 
  •    Add lemon juice accordingly. Mix all well.
  •    Add besan in the above batter.

  •  Mix all evenly.
  •   Now make small pattice or any shape you require. (Refer pic) 

  •   Roll these pattices in bread crumbs & shallow fry the pattice.

  •     Serve with sauce or chutney.

Its simple yet a tasty recipe. Do try it out at home and let me know how did it turned out to be.
