The Corporate Affair - Make up And Hair

Hello Everyone,

Had a busy week with my clientele picking up, hope you guys too had a fruitful week.

Today's post is about one of my client who was going to host her office event which was at Renaissance Hotel Powai. It was more of an event which happens once a year where you felicitate the senior employees.

After speaking to Anisha, never felt like I was speaking to a stranger. Talkative, polite, girly and full of life. Eager to share all the details and open to ideas and suggestions. I loves such kind of clients.  It makes my job easier and does not feel like you are working.

Anisha chose to wear a black saree for this event, she wanted very light and natural make up. After speaking to her, I had a clear idea what exactly she was looking out for. We had an hour on our hand to get her ready.

Decided to pin half her hair up and rest half open (that's how she wanted it to be). Anisha had few dark circles, open pores and blackheads. Concealing all this and getting a flawless skin was important.

So lets check out how did this corporate affair turned out to be :))

Bridal Trials ...

Hello Friends,

Have some thing special for you today, a bridal make up trial that I recently did. There has been no make up look for a while now, the last one being a party look.

So lets see the make up look on this bride. Minal is among the ones who hardly uses any make up unless she is stepping out for some special occasions. When I asked her how she wants her look to be, she was not sure what she wants to go for but then understanding her basic requirement, I started on with my job.

Minal has small eyes, so giving an illusion of a bigger eyes was very much required.  Plus lot of contouring required to make her face look slimmer and more defined. I wanted to give her look which is neither too heavy nor too sober.

She has a shoulder length hair , the hair required lot of volume to create any kind of hairstyle on her. The front hair section was falling too flat on her face. Keeping all this in mind we started on creating a look specially designed for her :)

During the bridal trial,  I very causally  show you the look how it would be on your wedding day. Of course ! the overall effect of make up, hairstyle, your outfit and jewelry  gives you much more defined look then what you see in the trials.

Lets see what the final look turned out to be ..

Party Look

Look and feel gorgeous this party season. Wether you are hosting or attending the party, how good it feels when you are the center of attention. How do we go about it??? Few points to consider before you prep yourself for the party.

  • What dress are you going to wear
  • How do you want to look
  • If its a theme party
  • Day or night party

These are few points to consider before you start your make up.  If its a day party, I suggest keep it simple yet glamourous but if its a night party then you can go for smokey eyes, extended smokey eyes or cat eyes which are attractive and ideal for party season.

Todays look is not that heavy. You can support if you are meeting few of your friends in the evening or attending a party at a friends place.

Bridal Make Up And Hairstyle - Wedding and Reception

Indian Weddings are so much fun, vibrant and full on dhamaal. You shop for  dresses,  accessories, sandals etc and finally you wait for the big day to arrive when you can wear all those fancy stuff just to make your self look beautiful.

Your face represents you. How you want to look on your D day is totally your choice and decision.  Make up does create a world of difference.  Every bride deserves to look flawless on her wedding day.

When you first make the bride ready, it's always better to understand what kind of make up she wants. Some prefer natural look,  few prefer smokey look and very few wants dramatic and intense look.

There are many who prefer bright vibrant lipsticks and some prefer to go with natural shades.Once you are clear what the bride wants, you will have a focus mind to achieve the end result. Your outfit, hairstyle and make up every thing should go in sync and compliment each other.

Today I am back with much awaited post and something which we have been preparing for days.  After going through wedding trials this is what we finalised for the Wedding and Reception Day.

In Goa there is a tradition or custom,  of wearing loads of flowers, specially the bride.Thats why on both the occassion you will find piles of flowers around the hairstyle. Another tradition is of wearing plain dark green bangles, eleven in right hand and nine in left hand. This is the tradition that Goan Muslim's follow religiously.

The right make up is that which enhances your natural features and makes you look beautiful. Farah looked incredibly gorgeous on both the days (Wedding & Reception).

Lets check out both the looks ...

Classic Bronze Look

This is my go to Classic Bronze Look. Easy to achieve and does not take much of a time.  Usually go for this look when I am in a hurry and don't have much time for experiments.

Bronze look goes much on everything and can be carried out for any outings. Seriously.....thinking to incorporate this look for myself, on one of the occasion for my sister's marriage. I wont be having much time and this look will be easy to achieve and more over would be perfect on my saree.

False lashes are a must for this look, as it adds more depth and dimension. Since this is not very intense look, took the liberty of going little loud with my lipstick.  If you add dark maroon lipstick on this look, it will be more like Deepika Padukne Look. She very often supports this kind of look as it goes really well on Asian skin tone.

Those of you who's been asking me to do FOTD using Laura Mercier Matte Baked Radiance Highlighter, than here it is. In this make up look,  have used Laura Mercier  Highlighter and I feel its one of the best highlighter I have come across, just be little light handed in picking up the product.  Too little is too much here :) . Purva this note is specially for you sweetheart :)

Rihanna of Arabia - Harper Bazaar Cover Look

When I first saw the recent cover photo of Haper Bazaar, was immediately drawn to the sexy and dramatic eye make up of Rihanna.  She looked drop dead gorgeous and stylish.

Was itching to try this look but being ramadaan had taken a break . Now since ramadaan is over, the first look that I wanted to try was "Rihanna of Arabia". She had this dramatic yet warm sun kissed look which looked quiet mesmerizing.

So lets take a look at my expiriment.  When I started off with this look, thought it might be easy to create it but turned out to be quiet challenging then expected.

Glamorous Reception Bridal Look

Hello Everybody,

Hope you guys had a great weekend. Past week had been little slack for the blog as I had not updated anything new, apologies for that,  had been tied up with some very challenging issues at my end which consumed most of my time and energy.

I like to be totally fresh and at my creative best to share my experiences with you all on the blog.  Nevertheless here I am today with my Second Bridal Look.  Yes ! I was back in action churning my mind where it works best and that is working with all mix and match of colors as soon as I closed all the demanding issues.

On the flip side there is a forced break from Make up looks for few days, being Ramadan, will be fasting this whole month and accommodating make up looks will be little difficult.  But folks I can never disappoint you all and will update lot of other interesting stuff on the blog, so stay connected.

Coming back to this weekend I tried two different looks, the first one is a heavy bridal look and the second one is simple day look.  So watch this space for more.

My second bridal look,  have kept Farah's (my younger sister) bridal attire (which is a pastel peach color with gold work overall and cut work on the Lehenga  shhhhh… it’s a secret still ok) for the reception in my mind and worked out this bridal look for her.  Don't want to reveal her bridal attire and spoil the surprise element, the outfit you see in the picture is a supplement outfit and not her original reception one.

This is a heavy smokey look with glitter and false lashes. Since her attire for the reception is going to be in light pastel color, its her make up which requires to light up her face and make it look lively. Leave a lasting impression on everybody's mind, its your wedding day and people will be staring at your face all the time.

If you are wearing heavy loaded outfit, go light with your make up and if your wearing pastel / light colors go heavy with your make up, this way it looks graceful, classy and not overly done. My earlier look was more on the traditional side , this one is more modernized.

Lets check out the Glamorous Reception Bridal Look

Soft Black Smokey Eyes

Sultry smokey eyes,  looks dam sexy or worst nightmare, depends on how you do it.  Hello Smudges ! and you are all messed up. Black smokey eye is great for evening wear. For this particular look dark circles are a big no no, hence make sure you conceal them properly.

Black smokey eye delivers a sexy and more defined look.  I have kept my look soft and wearable.

It's easy to create this look if you have more control over placing the required eye shadow correctly and take small baby step without rushing the whole process. Smokey eyes look prettiest when it pops out against minimal make up hence rest everything has been kept sober,  here less is more.  False lashes is a must for this look as it adds more dimensions to the eyes.

Maleficent - Make up Look

Saturday evening went to watch Maleficent at PVR Imax, I must say the experience was awesome and worth watching. Angelina Jolie completely inhabited the role of an evil fairy, she looked flawless in her appearance as well in her role. Her hyper chiseled raised cheekbone, courtesy of prosthetic make up has been the talk of the town.

After watching the movie , I was excited like a little girl and straight away headed to Mac Store and checked Maleficent collection.  It was there on the display launched on 30th May 2014. The collection is mostly red and neutral as portrayed by the make up of Angelina Jolie in the movie.  Mac had an opportunity to go with new colors for the release, but the colors in the squad looked very similar to the ones that they already had.

After watching Maleficent,  I so wanted to try the make up look worn by Angelina Jolie. I made an attempt for this look minus few things like the prosthetic raised cheekbone, horns and of course her iconic lens. Minus all these and the digital gimmicks this is what I came up with.  Closest to me being evil :))

In this look, the eye make has been kept neutral just the pop of yellow above the crease, with heavy contouring and red lips.

Let's check the look.

Colorful Eye Make Up

Happy Tuesday everyone, with Monday blues just left behind there is a whole week ahead to look forward to.  It's hot and I keep praying for the rains to come soon to get some much deserved relief from this relentless heat. Just imagine in this terrible heat when you need it the most your AC stops working and you can’t curse your luck enough.

Anyways... today's eye make up, I have kept it colorful thanks to my better half who wanted me to create something colorful.

This  look takes lot of blending and patience to create as there are many colors used to achieve this final look.

It's fun to play around with different colors. Add false lashes to this look for more volume and dimension.

Turquoise Make up Look

This summer season, turquoise and coral has been the color all over. Keeping the flavor of the season in  mind, today's eye make up has been worked out using turquoise eyeshadow. Beautiful and a unique color, looks dam pretty on the eyes too.

Turquoise reminds me of the beaches and cool water. Even a touch of this color on the upper or lower eye lid would make an impression.

It's neither too loud nor to sober, goes well with black, brown, green and blue eyes. The color is so unique that it sure calls for an attention.

Would look great on Navy blue, grey, white or black dress. Team it up with some good accessories and you are ready to go.

Lets check out the Turquoise Look ....

Wearable Green Look

I seriously love this look, as it looks beautiful on  different eye colors. I have used a technique of going from darker to lighter green, layering it up.

Wearable Green,  you can have on without being too loud. To add more drama to this look, you can wear thick falsies or else,  it looks great without wearing one.

In the crease I have taken peachy coral shade which would compliment the green and make your eyes look more fuller and rounded. Eye liner is very slightly winged.  I have jumped from palette to palette to get different shades of greens, from darker to a much lighter tones.  In all,  three green shades are used in this look.

Have tried this look with heavy false lashes  so that you know how it looks and in the last picture I have removed the falsies, to show that it looks good without wearing one.

I have got a big bad pimple on my chin, kindly ignore that and enjoy the look.

Sunset Make up Look

Finally this weekend I manage to get an appointment for my hair cut and coloring, went for a complete makeover ....... Check out the new look :)

Looking at the vibrant colors in the palette , have tried to capture the essence of Sunset in today's make up look.

When you think about sunset, what colors come to your mind.  Of course Orange and Yellow are the first two colors that you can think of, then you can add a little pop of blue, Purple or hint of red. I would love to try another sunset look with little more different colors to play around.

It's an evening look, wear something simple as you want your eyes to be the focus. You can make this look more vibrant by using pigments,  did not had the same color pigment hence went with the eye shadows only.

I have been getting lot of request to do a video on make up tutorials, but seriously speaking I haven't yet ventured in YouTube territory. I feel you need to have enough time to focus and right now my plate is too full.

Having said that.... I will surely think about it and will let you know when I record my first video. Till then enjoy the make up looks.

Pink Passion - Hot Pink Smokey Eye

Apparently this weekend, I so much wanted to try a bridal look but due to hectic schedule and incoming guest,  had to put it on the back burner.  Bridal make up requires lot of time ,  maybe will do it later when I have enough time.

So this weekend,  keeping summers in mind,  went in for a pop of color. Hot Pink Smokey Eyes. This look is all about putting your hair up and getting into the fun element. Since hot pink is too bright a color I thought of balancing it with black eye shadow on the outer edge of the eye and just dragging a little into the crease.  It was fun to work on this look. You require only three eye shadows to get this look, Hot pink, Black and Off white....boom ! and your done :))

This look I have done on Farah (my younger sister), so here's a before and after picture, and you can figure out the huge difference make up can create in transforming you into some diva. We were running short of time hence randomly did the hair minus the accessories. You can wear a long neck piece complimenting the outfit with a light dangling earrings,  a bracelet in hand and you are ready to go.

Sunkissed Holiday Look

Shortly!  I plan to take a small break and go on a vacation, forgetting about the routine life,  home, office, work, responsibilities etc. I am very much in need of a break and can't wait to start . Keeping the holiday mood in mind, I have indulged in some warm colors and named my current make up look as " Sunkissed Holiday Look".

Here's a look created by using my latest buy from BH Cosmetics - 2 Edition Palette (will review it soon). Oh ! I love this palette. It has a mix of colors in different finish - Shimmery, Satin and Matte. Well ! I guess that's all you need in a eye shadow palette to churn up different make-up looks.

Today's make-up look can be easily carried out during the day time as well as night time. It's neither too loud and nor too sober. Will go on most of the outfit, so you don't have to think much.

I have not put a before picture in this post, as in my earlier look which is "Bright Eyes & Bold Lips" had a picture before make up and I haven't gone thru much changes since then. I will update my before make-up look in every two months.

I am not wearing any falsies here, you can add false lashes to build up the look further........finally lets check the look ........we been talking about.

Bright Eyes Bold Lips - Make Up Look

Its Tuesday .... and I hope you guys had a great and colorful weekend :)

Tuesday I usually post a make-up look, so today is no exception. I had created a look over the weekend from a very new palette from BH Cosmetics which I happen to order from their website and received 15 days back. Was busy with the other things so did not get time to try . It's called "That's Heart Eyeshadow & Blush Palette" (Review coming up shortly).

This weekend was very busy, being Holi my maids took off and I was extremely busy with house work, cooking, cleaning, guest  etc. Still manage to try a quick look (need a pat on my shoulder for accommodating so much....winking !!).

Coming to the look, this time I have kept the eyes simple, bright and lips bold. You can also wear more sober lipstick in peachy orange or brown family, if you dont want to go for bold colors.

This look does not take much time, if you dont have much time to spare and want a quick bright vibrant look which is appealing then I recommend this look.

Very Berry Glam Make-up Look

As promised, I happen to try out a look this weekend with Faces Glitter Stack. It was fun doing this look. My mom was sleeping in the bedroom and we did not want to disturb her, hence like a two small kids we sneaked out of the bedroom with my huge vanity case, my brushes and other stuff that was required. (felt nostalgic just like childhood times)

Did not had any specific color in mind to start with except the pink glitter in the stack, that, I was sure of. When using glitter on eyes, the color stands out and all the attention is on eyes, so choose the color combination wisely. Something which would compliment your skin tone and not make you look like some made up doll.

This look you can carry out to any party or function and would go well with Indian and western outfit. Here in this look I have used natural lashes, if you want you can use more thick lashes to draw more attention to your eyes.

I really loved this look, you need to blend  well to get the smooth transition of color. I have named it " Very Berry Glam Look" as it reminds me of berries. Lets get the eyes rolling because you have all the reason to flaunt it.

Bright Jewel Blue Eye Make up Look

Ok ! so far I had not experimented much with blue,  so this time I wanted to create an Intense bright blue look.

This look you can wear, in the evening or night out. Apart from the bright Blue color, everything else I have kept less dramatic and sober.  As any which case,  all the attention will be on eyes.

I have used black kohl pencil on the below waterline and traced it with white eye pencil just to sober down the black, making your eyes appear little less intense and more colorful and vibrant.

No false lashes used in this look. If you want you can apply false lashes for more dramatic effect. You can also add glitter to this look to get more attention to your eyes.
