Moong Masala

Sunday morning breakfast are always different then the routine . You are at home, lazing around and want something which would add to your holiday mood - a good stomach filling breakfast. I like to experiment with different ingredients just to see how the final dish turns out to be. Sometimes its good and sometimes it might be a total disaster, but that's fine....its a learning process.

Last Sunday I happen to make Moong Masala and Parathas for the breakfast. It turned out really yummy and delicious. Lets check out the preparation.

Ingredients:
Boiled Moong - As per requirement
Pav Bhaji Masala - 1tbsp
Onions - One medium size
Tomatoes - 2 Nos
Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1tsp
Haldi - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Zeera - 1Tbsp
Green Chillies - one small
Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
Salt - As per taste
Oil
Sugar - 1/4 tsp

For Garnishing
Butter
Coriander Leavers

Method :

1) In a pan, add oil,  once the oil turns hot put zeera. When zeera starts leaving aroma, add finely chopped onions and fry,  till it turns soft pink. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for another 1-2 min till the raw smell disappears.

2) Add finely cut tomatoes, turmeric and red chilli powder. Mix it well and close the lid of the pan for 2 min. This will help the tomatoes to become softer. Once you open the lip of the pan, stir it well and cook till the tomatoes are smashed completely and turmeric and chilli powder are cooked well.

3) Remove the excess water from the boiled moong,  put pav bhaji masala and mix well. Add the moong to the pan along with sugar, geen chillies, garam masala and salt. Sugar is just for taste, it will not make the dish sweeter.

4) Add very little water and let it simmer on a low heat for another 5 min. Remove it in the bowl and garnish it with coriander leaves and butter.

Serve hot with parathas.  Enjoy !!!

You can also make moong masala during the lunch or dinner time. Easy to make and delicious to eat. Try out this recipe and do let me know how it turned out to be.

Bon Appetit !
