Palak Lachcha Paratha

Paratha's can be had at any time of the day, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are so many variation in which Paratha's can be made. Few days back, i had made Palak (Spinach) Paratha and it turned out really nice. So here i am sharing with you today, the recipe of Palak Lachcha Paratha.

Ingredients

Palak (Spinach) - 1 Bunch (Wash, Blanch & puree)
Ajwain (Carrom Seeds) - 1 small tsp
Zeera - 1 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Red Chilli Powder  - 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder - 2 -3 pinch
Coriander powder  - 1/2 tsp
Chaat Masala - 1/2 tsp
Whole Wheat Flour  - 2 Cups
Ghee
Butter (Optional)

Method:

1) Roast Zeera and Ajwain, roughly grind it in mixie. It should be dar-dara (not fine ).

2) Wash and blanch the Palak in hot water and make a puree.

3) Add  roasted zeera, ajwain along with salt, pepper, red chilli powder, coriander powder, chaat masala to the Whole Wheat  flour. Add the Spinach Puree and knead the flour into the dough. You can add little oil while kneading for more softness. Your dough will look as per the picture shown below.

4) Take a small amount of dough and roll it out like chappati. Apply Ghee all over and sprinkle loose flour over it. Start folding into fan like shape as shown in the picture below. Like how we do for Lachcha Paratha.  The Lachcha technique can be used for any Paratha except the ones which has filling or stuffing.

This is how a classic Laccha paratha is made

5) Make a bun and again with loose hand roll out the paratha as per desired thickness.

6) Heat tawa on a high flame. Place Paratha on the hot tawa , drizzle ghee on both the side while cooking the Paratha as and when required. Cook the Paratha till brown spots starts appearing and Paratha  is cooked properly. Serve it hot with Curd, Dal Takda, Pickle, Chutney, you can also serve this with pulses. You can also add little butter on the Paratha while serving for more royal taste.

Spinach  is a rich source of iron. I will admit that i am not a huge fan of spinach  but knowing the benefits I try to incorporate spinach in my diet in different ways, like Palak Lachcha Paratha, I sometimes add spinach to my soup or in Moong Dal which enhances the taste of the dal (Try it out)  or make Palak Paneer. There are so many ways you can have spinach and gain its benefit.

Hope you have enjoyed reading this recipe, drop me a comment if you happen to make this paratha and let me know your experience.

Enjoy !!!
